The Folsom Lake Symphony is proud to partner with numerous organizations in our community to offer a variety of enrichment programs.
These programs include…
- Al Fresco Community Concerts
- Family Concert and Instrument “Petting Zoo”
- Music in our Schools
- Senior Engagement
The symphony’s al fresco concerts have grown tremendously since the 2013 inaugural performance at El Dorado Hills Town Center. In 2017, a second concert was added in the Folsom Historic District Amphitheater. These free concerts have become “must hear” events in the community.
Just imagine how a child’s world is opened up to all the possibilities and joy that music can bring to their life! Then imagine that child playing the cello or the trombone for the first time. This is exactly what transpires at the Folsom Lake Symphony Family Concerts. Children and their families are treated to a youth-centric concert followed by the popular Instrument “Petting Zoo,” where symphony musicians give children the opportunity to dream big with hands-on experience trying out different musical instruments. For the past several years the Folsom Lake Symphony has offered this low-cost admission concert to Sacramento-area families. In addition, hundreds of tickets have been awarded as scholarships to area children who otherwise might never have a symphony experience or the opportunity to play a musical instrument. It’s a musical adventure designed to entertain, educate and inspire the next generation of music lovers, music-makers and concertgoers!
The symphony’s Music in our Schools outreach program offers performances by symphony musicians for local schoolchildren. For many of the youth, this is their first exposure to classical music. With the continuing trend to cut funding for the arts in our public schools, this program becomes even more valuable to our community.
The senior engagement program in cooperation with several senior and assisted living communities in El Dorado and Sacramento counties provides a number of complimentary matinee concert tickets to residents. In addition, tickets are offered at a discounted price to their families so they all may enjoy a day at the symphony.
