2nd Annual Family Concert was a hit with parents and kids

The Folsom Lake Symphony’s second annual family concert was a sell-out. This performance “It’s about Time” performed on March 11th at Harris Center, was made possible by the generous sponsors and attendees of our annual benefit gala, “An Evening Under the Stars.” By getting the word out at the schools, coupled with affordable pricing, the program reached out to community members who were less familiar with symphonic music. There were also orchestra-sponsored tickets made available to under-served communities .

The hour-long concert featured symphonic music ranging from waltzes to the theme from Mission Impossible. Maestro Peter Jaffe engaged the audience with amusing stories and had them counting along and understanding the rhythmic elements of the pieces. After the concert, the audience participated in the “instrument petting zoo,” during which youngsters could try out orchestra instruments. Youngsters, teens, and adults took a turn playing the large selection of instruments under the guidance of orchestra musicians. A wonderful, educational time was had by all.

“The Folsom Lake Symphony provided a fun family experience with their family concert, “It’s About Time!”, that my son, wife and I enjoyed. We found the interactive aspect of the concert and the instrument petty zoo afterwards to be highlights. Who knew that a two year old could play a trombone?” The Stark Family, Woodland, CA

“Here are a few pictures of my daughters from the Family concert. I wanted you to see what joy it was for them to try the instruments. Thank you again for putting this on!” Jennifer Brown, El Dorado Hills, CA
